When determining the location for new or altered water and sewerage connections for your property, it is important to check the site for possible issues that may affect constructability. Below we have identified a number of constructability considerations which may make your connection non-standard and require an estimate to be prepared. Please make sure you nominate the desired location of your connection on your application. We will contact you if there are any concerns to discuss other options available to you. This guidline identifies common constructability issues which may apply in some situation. SA Water will endovour to confirm final locations with you and advise if additional constraints exist.

Roads  Works on state maintained (DPTI) roads and works on cross streets within around 20 metres of a DPTI road or where additional traffic management is required for safety. Stobie poles, light poles and property power supply including transformers  Excavations less than 0.3 metres deep must maintain a clearance of 1.5 metres from a stobie pole, light pole or transformer.  Excavations greater than 0.3 metres deep must maintain a clearance of 3.3 metres from a stobie pole, light pole or transformer. Gas meter / LV electrical SAPN green pillar box  All connections must maintain a minimum of 1 metre clearance. Telstra pits  Water connections must maintain a minimum 0.5 metre clearance.  Sewerage connections must maintain a minimum 1.0 metre clearance. Storm water pits (inc side entry pits)  Water connections must maintain a minimum 0.5 metre clearance.  Sewerage connections must maintain a minimum 1.0 metre clearance. Trees  Water connections must maintain a minimum 3 metres clearance if the tree has a girth of more than 1 metre.  Water and sewerage connections for all other instances must not be constructed within the canopy of the tree. Water and wastewater connections  Water and sewerage connections must maintain a minimum of 0.6 metre seperation between services. o SA Water connection locations are not to be less than 0.3 metres for water and 1.0 metres for sewerage off the side dividing property boundary. Note: All measurements are taken from the outer edge of the obstruction to the centre line of the connection. The above information is to be used as a guide only and SA Water reserves the right to change or alter the requested location if necessary. On assessment and prior approval SA Water may be able to consider options outside of the above nominated measurements, however this may incur additional fees and limitations.
