he audit department is an independent appraisal unit of the water board. It is saddled with the responsibility of reviewing the accounting, financial and other operations of the board as service to management. It is a management control which functions by measuring and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of other controls.

Activities of the Department

  • Routine Checks: the department from the headquarters performs routine checks by going round the districts and plants quarterly to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of controls put in place to safe guard the board’s assets and liabilities.
  • To attend to issues raised by internal auditors at the cause of their monthly reports.
  • To ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

The Chief Internal Auditor also conduct unscheduled visits to cash points to perform cash counts on to ensure that revenue collection is banked appropriately and promptly.

Chemical stores are similarly visited on regular basis to ensure that there is no misappropriation or pilferage of chemical.
